What: Grow Cook Eat Junior

A brilliant plot-to-plate experience for children. They’ll learn to grow in the veg garden and then cook up the harvest in a seasonal cookery demo. Always fun, educational and tasty with lots of goodies to take home. Suitable for children aged 6-11, accompanied by an adult.

What: The Baby Market Corkcapture

What: Growing in Polytunnels

A polytunnel is a huge asset for the GIYer, extending your growing season at both ends and allowing you to grow warm-climate crops like tomatoes, aubergines and peppers. This is a joint initiative by the Green Economy Foundation in collaboration with the Woodland Trust in Northern Ireland  to increase native trees within the island of Ireland.

It’s open to pretty much any land owner or organisation to get involved and get planting!

What: Fussy Galore Spring Fashion and Vintage Fair

What: All Ireland Pollinator Plan Regional Meeting

The Pollinator Plan identifies 81 actions to make Ireland more pollinator friendly. One of these actions includes holding an annual meeting that rotates around the four provinces, to raise awareness, discuss progress and plan for future action. The first of these regional meetings will be held in Ulster on February 17th-18th.

Where: Craigavon Borough Council at the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre.

This course is for anyone curious to find out more about Permaculture and trying to decide whether to take a more extensive course. The one day session is also a ‘stand alone’ introduction to Permaculture ethics, principles and design, and can act as a perfect lead-in to the more in-depth Permaculture Design Course (FETAC L5) run in Cloughjordan over 3 weekends or the 10-day intensive, residential Permaculture Design Certificate Course (accredited by the UK Permaculture Association)

What: Panel Discussion on Soil Healthkynieacc

Scientists are saying there are only 60-100 food harvests left before our soil is totally degraded. Based on the launch of the People for Soils Campaign which is working towards gaining protected status for soils in Europe, this panel will discuss the current issues of soil erosion and compaction, management and protection and our national issue of flooding.
