Over the last number of years, we have become much more conscious of what we are eating and the direct effect our diet has on our overall health. We have started to move away from processed foods with ingredients we can’t pronounce to more natural and simple choices.
At the same time as our awareness of food ingredients has increased, so has our interest in the effect of the skincare products we use. After all, our skin is our largest organ and it absorbs about 60-70% of what we feed it with! This move towards natural skincare products has also been driven by the huge spike in people suffering from allergies and sensitivities over the last decade.
If you have been thinking about moving to more natural alternatives for your skincare, you’re in luck. There are some amazing natural skincare ranges that are made right here in Ireland!
After studying Herbal Science at CIT, Tracey Ryan spotted a market for natural skincare products made from natural food ingredients. With ingredients including cocoa butter, honey, beeswax, almond oil, herbs, and spices, the Bia Beauty Natural Skincare Range includes an amazing suite of products such as moisturisers, exfoliators, shampoos, lip balms as well as a dedicated baby line.

Handmade Soap Company
Following a visit to an Australian Market in 2009, Donagh Quigly and Gemma McGowan were inspired to start producing their own handmade soaps. They established the Handmade Soap Company in 2010 and now offer a wide range of soaps, lotions, lip balms and candles that are made with natural ingredients. These beautiful products are free from parabens, SLS’s, petrochemicals, synthetic colours and fragrances. What’s even better is that none of the products are tested on animals and the company also uses FSC approved packaging and environmentally friendly vegetable-derived inks.
